Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 8, 2026
1. Scope and Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Luminus suite of websites, including the parent site (luminustools.org), the Tools sub-application (app.luminustools.org), the Blog (blog.luminustools.org), and the News feed (news.luminustools.org). This policy outlines how we handle data, use cookies, integrate third-party services like Google Analytics and Google AdSense, and protect visitor privacy.
2. Browser-Side Execution & Local Privacy
By default, Luminus Tools is built to run entirely client-side. When you use our converters, calculators, and developer tools, the processing occurs directly inside your browser. Your inputs, formulas, and calculations never leave your device. We do not require account registration, and we do not store your utility data.
3. Location Data & Dynamic Theme Customization
To offer a personalized, responsive visual experience, our websites include a celestial-theme engine that dynamically shifts typography, hues, and background glows.
Why we ask for coordinates: When you allow location access in your browser, your coordinates (latitude and longitude) are fetched locally. These values are used to request real-time weather codes and temperatures from the open-source, anonymous Open-Meteo API (e.g., cloudy, snowy, stormy, temperature-dependent warm/cool hues). Additionally, a unique coordinate signature shift is calculated client-side to give your theme a stable accent palette unique to your city.
Data Handling: We do NOT save, log, or track your geolocation. The coordinates are handled strictly client-side to request weather forecast codes, and no personal identifying information is transmitted or stored on any server.
4. Google Analytics & Traffic Measurement
We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to measure traffic and understand how users navigate our subdomains.
Google Analytics uses cookies (small text files placed on your computer) to collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is transmitted to Google. This data is used to compile statistical reports on website activity and improve our software.
You can prevent Google Analytics from identifying you on return visits by disabling cookies in your browser, or you can opt out entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising
To support the creation and maintenance of our free calculators and tools, we display advertisements served by third-party advertising companies, including Google AdSense.
Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites on the Internet. Google’s use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our sites.
Opting Out: You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
6. Interactive AI Assistant (Echo)
Our interactive tools platform features an assistant named Echo. Echo is designed to explain tool calculations and provide plain-language text generation.
When you ask Echo a question or request a calculation explanation, your prompt is securely processed by serverless API integrations with models hosted by Groq or Google Gemini. This exchange is stateless; no conversation logs, names, or prompts are linked to your profile or stored by us between browser visits.
7. Cookie Management Policy
Cookies are small pieces of data saved on your device by your browser. We utilize:
- Local Storage: To cache weather theme details (WMO weather code, temperature, daytime state) for 15 minutes to prevent redundant API fetches.
- Analytics Cookies: Set by Google Analytics to help us count page visits and source traffic.
- Advertising Cookies: Set by Google AdSense to serve, target, and limit the frequency of ads.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.
8. Compliance & Legal Consent
By using our websites, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, we honor your rights to transparency and choice, and provide mechanisms to opt out of tracking, cookies, and personalized advertisements.
